Our commitment ensures beach safety throughout the year.

Surf lifesaving is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organisation committed to keeping our local beaches safe and protecting our community throughout the summer months.

Our dedicated volunteers patrol seven active locations across the Far South Coast every weekend and public holiday, from the October long weekend through to Easter Monday or Anzac Day, whichever falls later. Operating from fixed patrol locations during daylight hours, our teams provide continuous beach surveillance, identify potential hazards and respond to incidents when assistance is required. Patrol hours vary throughout the season and between individual clubs.

While surf rescue is at the heart of what we do, our volunteers also play an important first-response role within the community. Trained in resuscitation, emergency response and lifesaving techniques, our patrol members are prepared to act quickly when someone’s safety is at risk.

Our distinctive red and yellow uniforms and flags are a familiar and reassuring sight on the Far South Coast’s beaches. Supported by a comprehensive radio communications network, our patrol teams remain connected and coordinated, helping us respond effectively to emergencies and provide a safe environment for everyone enjoying the coast.

At its core, surf lifesaving is about people helping people. Our volunteers give their time, skills and commitment to protect others and make our beaches safer for everyone.
