The first Junior Carnival of the season, was also the first Junior carnival in 12 months, was held at Narooma Surf Life Saving Club on 13th December 2020.

All competitors should be commended for their participation in the carnival, the beach conditions were hot and the soft, dry sand made it a tough fight to the finish line or flag. The water conditions produced some challenging sets, which saw many kids be creative in their approach, using the current to find the most efficient line to the cans.

The carnival was over relatively quickly having no team relay events to comply with COVID-safe restrictions. The hosts, Narooma Surf Life Saving Club members, did a wonderful job preparing the beach, competition areas and car parking to facilitate and safe and well organised event.

Thank you to all of the volunteers from across the branch who assisted on the day: Far South Coast Director of Surf Sports, Andrew Holt; his team of officials and recorders; the water safety members with tubes, on boards, in IRBs and on the RWC; Junior Activities Coordinators and Age Managers; as well as the tireless helpers on the barbeque who also did a great job supplying our volunteers with COVID-safe lunch packs.

We look forward to seeing everyone return for the next Junior carnival at Broulee Surfers SLSC in February.

Point score results to come.
